Number One or Number Two?

I have been wearing glasses since kindergarten - yep they had glasses that far back.
My first pair were a light blue plastic.

Not very funky or unusual...
but at the time if you were a little girl
you either wore blue or pink plastic frames.
There really were not a lot of choices back in the day.

Today the choices are endless.
I am currently loving these sunglasses.

Don’t you just love the button?
I wish they were not so spendy -
hate to spend too much on sunglasses,
as I tend to lose them.
Being the creative/resourceful person that I am,
why couldn't I just cut the shank off of a button
and glue it on a less expensive pair?
I am quite sure that I have that exact
button in my extensive button collection.

Have you ever googled vintage eyeglass frames?
Etsy has some really fun frames.

Loving the lavender.

And how about these for funky.

I have always loved getting new glasses but I HATE the eye exam. I find an eye exam very stressful.
I have always wondered why, with all of the technology that we have, is there not a better way to have your eyes examined??? Better here... or here - Better number one... or number two?? Really??? Most of the time I really cannot decide which one is better...

they are usually both blurry.
And if you were not cross eyed when you started…

you are by the time you get done.

When I can't decide between one...or two,
I get stressed and then I get…

sweaty armpits.
Sad but true. Poor eye doctor.

I have always thought that being an eye doctor had to be the cushiest job there is - well except for the sweaty armpit part. Really how much stress is there on the doctor - he never has to choose between one or two. And if your glasses are not quite right...well you chose number two over number one even though they were both equally blurry.

Well I just saw a commercial on TV for one of those 1 hour glasses places and I see they are offering a new thing called Accufit Digital Measuring system. I just caught the end of the commercial and thought - finally no more better here... or here. But upon doing some research I find that Accufit Digital Measuring just assures that your lenses are perfectly placed in your frame. I was so disappointed. Really if I wrongly chose two over one...well it really won't matter how perfectly my lenses are placed in my funky frames!

And the stress goes on.

May you always see clearly.

From my heart,
Sandy

  1. I just got new glasses after years of not going.
According to the doc, I shouldn't be driving since i can't see. Well, I see fine and never have an accident, so it makes me wonder about those tests, lol. I am near sighted, so I don't have sharp vision, but I can tell the difference between a person and an inanimate object on the road, lol.

  2. I love glasses too. When I was working in corporate America I had 8 pair of glasses. Can't justify that anymore! I used to hate the eye exam until I had to start being tested for glaucoma. Now the vision test is a breeze. The glaucoma tests give me a migraine!

  3. I thought I was the only one that felt that way. One time I memorized the phrase so I wouldn't make a mistake...walked out of there with the wrong prescription...guess I fooled him, high?!

  4. LOL I feel the same way, I get so stressed deciding between 1 and 2 because I cant see any difference in them either. By the time I am done I have a terrible headache, dilated pupils and just want to close my eyes and not see anything for awhile!! I go Feb 14th for my exam, I am sure I will be thinking about your post and chuckling. :)

  5. LOL! This was really so reassuring! I always make him repeat #1 and #2 over and over. I can't decide! I thought it was just me! Great post - thank you!!!

  6. I thought I was the only one who agonized over the decision between #1 and #2. And then I took my 9 and 11 year old daughters and the whole way there, I kept telling them, "Make sure you ask him to show you #1 and #2 again if you aren't POSITIVE which one was better. Even if you have to ask 100 times. Don't just guess..." I was so scared they'd be too polite, and then they'd choose wrong, and then they'd go blind, and it would be my fault for not explaining that they can ask to see it again...

I'm glad we just did that last week and I don't have to go through THAT ordeal again for a year or so!

  7. I always say they look the same if they are both blurry... Let the doc figure it out... It's what he gets paid for.

  8. LOL. I totally agree. I always get nervous trying to strain to see which is better, 1 or 2. There really should be a better way.

  9. Oh, wow, can I ever identify with this post -- I hate that eye exam. And why do the cute frames have to cost so much? Who wants to have just one pair of glasses -- would you have just one outfit to wear? Not me. Too bad we can't just whip up a pair on our Berninas!

  10. I love this post! You have described the eye exam exactly. I hate choosing which is better, usually I can't tell. I'm terribly nearsighted and have never been happy with my prescription. Your post made me smile!

  12. Have you seen Dilem glasses. They are amazing. You can change the side frames so it looks like you have several differnt glasses. You have to check them out..... they're amazing. I have 10 side frames in different designs and colours. I even had a quilt block painted on the sides of one of my frames. Dilem has a web site so check it out.

  14. Oh yes I feel your pain, and now I get myself so nervous with the exam I get sick to my stomach and dizzy with all the lense flipping.
I don't know if its one or two.....stop I have to throw up!

So I have been wearing the same glasses for 5 years!

  15. I had an eye exam and ordered new glasses recently. My optician explained that my lenses would be digitally enhanced to minimize distortion. My new lenses are indeed amazing! I see very well.
