Fall-o-ween Blog Hop Day 10

Today's featured designer is Pat Sloan of Pat Sloan's Designs.
I don't know of anyone who has more going on than Pat.
She has 2 hops going on at once. I can't seem to handle one

Today's subject is quilts.
When I saw the topic I decided I would string a clothesline from tree to tree to tree in our yard and hang all of my Fall quilts on the line.
Doesn't it sound like it would be a fabulous photo op?
I thought so.
Well you will just have to imagine how cool that would have been.
Why you ask?
Well I could blame it on my nasty cold that will not go away.
I could blame it on the fact that I am snowed under at work generating quilts for market.
I could blame the dog...he ate the quilts. ???
I could blame it on the fact that before I knew it...it was dark outside.
But truth be known, I just did not get it done.
I guess I will file that idea in the "Things I want to get done someday".
Below are some of the quilts that I was going to hang on my clothesline.

Fall-o-ween Blog Hop Day 8

Welcome to Day 8 of the Quilt Designer's Fall-o-ween Blog Hop.
My goodness the days are flying by.
Today's featured designer is Carrie Nelson from Miss Rosie's Quilt Co.

Hop on over to her blog and check out her project.

I'm guessing it will be something pieced.

And I will want to make it.

When the kids were little, every fall we would
take a family trip down to the Community Orchard in Ft. Dodge.

(We really need to have a new Family Portrait taken.)

In the Fall the orchard offered hayrides out to their pumpkin fields.
Once you arrived at the pumpkin patch, you could get
off the hayrack and pick your pumpkin.



Anthony was content to pick his pumpkin right away.
He usually picked a tall skinny one.


But Abby, our dear Abby, she would have to wander

to the far corner of the field to find her pumpkin.
It was always very large and heavy and

her Daddy had to lug it back to the hayrack.

The Orchard has a café, where we would have

apple dumplings with cinnamon ice cream,

before we headed home to carve our pumpkins. Yummy!
They also have Sweet Corn Relish. and Flax chips. Yummy too!

As a child I always had trouble carving the mouth of my Jack-o-lantern.

I almost always inadvertently cut off the teeth.
And if I was trying to do eyeballs I usually ended up

cutting off at least one if not both of the eyeballs.
.
The kids are all grown up now, but every once in a while,

if they come home around Halloween, we will all carve pumpkins.
Can you guess which one is mine?

Fall-o-ween Day 7

Happy to say I am back from the Funny Farm.
I was really glad to get out of there. I'm telling ya...that horse really could use a shower.

Today's topic is gatherings.
Fall is a time I like to get out in the country

to gather the goods found in the ditches.

You can find all sorts of interesting, colors, shapes and textures.

Various grasses.






Pretty blooming things.

Bittersweet.

Little tiny daisy like flowers.

Interesting shapes and textures.

Cattails, I love cattails.

Bright colored leaves, in shades of golds....

and shades of reds.

Milkweed pods. Although interesting,

I left these in the ditch as I did not like

the looks of those scary red bugs.

Buckeye.

Acorns.

The squirrels in our yard have also been very

busy scurrying around gathering and hiding

their winter supply of nuts.

This little guy has stopped to play with his....acorns.

Fall-o-ween Blog Hop Day 6

Welcome to Day 6 of the Quilt Designer's Fall-o-ween Blog Hop.

Today's blog will be brief.

Because of yesterday's website "glitches" I am currently at the Funny Farm.

I am sharing a padded stall with this guy.
He is hogging all of the space and standing in my light.
And the Internet here at the farm is iffy.
But supposedly my new site should now be running properly.
SHOULD being the key word.
That said let me get to today's post.
Today's featured designer is the very cute Heather from Anka's Treasures

Today's topic is Decorating.
Due to my cold, launching my website and the hop,
I have had very little time to do any fall decorating.



As soon as there is a chill in the air
I head to our local pumpkin farm
to purchase my pumpkins and gourds.


Oh how I love orange…



And even more than orange ….red orange.
I will plop a pumpkin just about anyplace


I like to let them spill out of my "cornucopia",
also know as old phonograph parts.


In my yelloware bowls.



On top of my 'artsy thing".


On top of my silver vases.

I sometime adorn the pumpkins with things like ric rac…

and acorns and wire.

I drag out the fall "stuff" and decorate the mantel.

I change out the everyday art for the "Fall" art.

I painted the jack-o-lantern on this old orange and black checkerboard.

This is one of my favorite Fall items.
Just a simple pumpkin painted on a bowl.
I never fill this bowl as I don't want to hide the art.
