New, New and More New

I see over at the Minick and Simpson blog that Laurie is apologizing for taking such a long blog break.
She had not blogged for EIGHT days. Oh my they really make me look bad. But I have to believe if you are still following my blog you have come to accept the fact that I am a once a month blogger. I try for once every two weeks….sigh….but time just gets away.
I certainly have not been sitting here idle.
I have been crazy busy creating new product for you to buy.
In fact when I came to work this morning this is what my calendar said.

Yep too busy to change the page.

I am now caught up.

(With the calendar part - not my todo list.)

Here are some of the things that have been keeping me busy.

I designed my 2012 Christmas line.

I named it Merry Medley.

A large paisley is the signature print.

I didn't get a picture of the panel but it consists
of 8 Christmas motifs set on a music note background.

Made Reindeer Games quilts -

my seamstresses helped me with this one.

Wrote, proofed, printed, bagged patterns for Reindeer Games Quilts.

A pattern for 4 Christmas place mats.
#527 Eat. Drink. Be Merry

This year it was decided that I would do a 20 piece Halloween

and a 20 piece Fall line of fabric.

Normally I do a 40 piece group of either Fall or Halloween.

The fall line.

This line features the wonderful warm colors of fall.

The Halloween line is called Monster Bash.

As you can see I originally named it Fun-omenal Fall

but it was decided that Phenomenal Fall and Fun-omenal Fall

would be too confusing.

A sneak peek of the panel.

Some of the prints.

We proofed, printed, collated, spiral bound

and shipped the Easy Peasy Books.

We are selling the little wooden flower pots and some spools

needed for some of the projects in this book.

Go to my website and check it out under Supplies.

Pillow featured in Easy Peasy book.

The bowl that these tomatoes are sitting in
is actually a quarter cup measuring cup.
So the tomatoes are pretty little.
Find the instructions for these mini tomatoes
in the Easy Peasy book.

Mr. Brown dropped off some boxes full of this.

It's Sassy.

Remember when I blog about this line

and I stated that you would have a hard time

piecing the panel into a quilt.

This is why.

The panel for this line is actually a pre-printed apron.

The apron comes in blue or black.

I am now computer generating quilts using this fabric.

I must confess… I had help doing many of the above things.

Thanks to a great staff. I could never do all of this without them

And the last item under new business is the Moda Country Fair Blog Hop.

Myself and 26 other Moda designers will be

blogging starting Tuesday September 6th.

I will be the first blogger.

All of us have designed a small project for you to make.

It should be fun.

Come join use on Tuesday September 6th.

Remember staying busy is better than sitting idle.

From my heart,

Sandy

  9. I think you're forgiven for not blogging in so long. I'm so happy to see the reindeer back and the Sassy is wonderful. I think you need to keep the calendar up to date though, I love those black lace shoes and I wonder what else you may have missed.

  11. As they say, if you want something done, ask a busy person. Your lines look terrific. I have to get one of your patterns for the place mats. Too cute! And I love the idea of the background of the panel designs being sheet music. So charming!

  12. What adorable prints these all are! Makes me wish I was a sewer! I do try, and I have fun when I do, but paper is my favorite medium. So I take my inspiration where I can, and I love your prints...

  14. Love all of these abfab new things you're dreaming up! The Blue Earth Area BlockSwapper gang was in a quandry about the next project. They were in general agreement about a fall theme but many were tired of dark colors. I said have you seen the Grand Finale line? Big hit with everyone, fall colors with a modern lighter zip. Thanks so much! I hope you'll come to Blue Earth the 3rd weekend in Aug. 2012 to see what we've done. Thanks!!

  23. Sandy, I was not able to print the free pattern. The site does not allow printing or download. I thought the pattern would make a cute Christmas gift made out of the Sassy line for teenagers.

  25. I am inspired by your story. I have been unemployed for over a year and I am thinking of starting my own business with my stamp art, sewing and quilting. Thanks for your info and I look forward to the rest of the "Fair".

  26. On a recent vacation to Las Vegas I visited Fiddlesticks Quilt Shop in Boulder City. This is one of the most unique shops I have ever visited. The people there were so helpful and of course they carry Moda. When I first started quilting I didn't know there was a difference in cotton fabric. I soon learned that if you are going to spend your time and money quilting then you have to buy the best. Moda is the fabric for me. The designers are all awesome but Kansas Troubles is my choice. BTW... I spent over 200.00 in fabric that I had to worry about trying to pack into my luggage. But I managed...I bought the new Moda Flannel line. LOVE IT and MODA

  27. My four older sisters were 4-H girls, but by the time I came along my Mom was too busy to keep up with the group. But she found the time to teach me the love of sewing.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Your dress revue comment made me laugh. My girls often finished their projects at the last minute, sometimes in the car on the way to the fairgrounds to drop off their entries. My granddaughter is now third generation 4-H. Great times and great memories from a wonderful organization. Love your fabric and patterns & have made several projects of yours.

  29. Awwww 4-H, taught myself to sew using a 4-H competition. First project was a bag...even then I was gearing for the harder projects that took the most time and usually frustrated the begeebers out of me!! Oh well, now I'm sewing quilts and little girl dresses. Oh and encouraging my teenager to sew...just like my mom did.

  30. I didn't have 4-H where I grew up, but spent lots of time sewing barbie clothes on my mothers sewing machine! Bless her! Love your blog, love your creativity!

  33. I was also in 4-H for 10 years starting at the tender age of 9 as an honorary member.
I have fond memories of my mom coaxing me on to the finish some years working into the wee hours of the night!

  39. Sandy your blog is fabulous! I love the MODA Bake Shop giveaways and this one is awesome! It has given me a chance to meet so many designers and learn so much from you all. I am learning to quilt and in turn I am teaching my granddaughters both to sew and quilt. Next I want to teach them embroidery. It's special to spend the time with them on smaller projects and I am loving it = they are both loving it too!! After seeing your little bag I have decided to work with them and make each of us one. Thanks so much. I also wanted to say I love your new fabric so much as well.
Thanks for the chance to win I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for this one :) :)

  49. I was a 4-H member back in 1969 with my aunt being the sewing leader. I won a 2nd place on my dress I made. Leter in years with my daughter I became the sewing leader for our local 4-H club and had the most fun with all my girls. They entered their projects in two fairs and even had a fashion show in our local fair. Great memories.

  50. Hi Sandy--I was in 4H, and I first learned to sew there. One of the projects I made was an apron--you know the kind that had a hard plastic thing to go in the waist so it would stretch to fit around your waist? Well, my project went along just fine, until the hem. We had stitched all of the apron with the sewing machine, but we were required to do the hem by hand. I caught on pretty fast and was really pleased with my apron, until I took the final stitch. Back then, little girls almost always wore dresses to school. Our 4H meeting was after school and I didn't go home to change first. To my dismay, I found that I had stitched my apron hem right onto to my dress skirt! I can honestly say that I have improved tremendously since that project! I love the idea of this blog hop. I love all the projects that we are privileged to have. My husband is undergoing chemotherapy right now, and this will be something for me to look forward to every day. Thank you for the Pocket project. I will making several of these--one for myself and a bunch for my little granddaughters. They will love them! Thank you again!
