Hello and welcome to the Moda Friendship Quilt Along.

Have you been following along?

Are you making blocks?
I see Joanna is making blocks like crazy—I am envious.
It would have been a good way to get a quilt done.

Here is my block.

Go here for the PDF download.

Friends  - what an important role they play in our lives.
This is one of my favorite quotes about friends.

It's been said that everlasting friends go long periods of time without speaking and never question their friendship. These friends pick up phones like they just spoke yesterday, regardless of how long it has been or how far away they live, and they don't hold grudges. They understand that life is busy and you will always love them.

My Friend Susan is one of those "everlasting" friends.
We first met as young marrieds - working just a few buildings from each other.
Then we had children and drifted apart.
Later on I moved into a home just down the street from her sister and our friendship was rekindled.
By now we both had small children similar in age. We often got together and chatted while the kids played.
The children grew up and we suddenly had more time for ourselves.
We both grew to love antiques and old homes and we attend many an auction and went on many a road trip antiquing.
We both bought old homes. She found hers first.
I then found mine, the home we currently live in - ironically right across the street from Susan.
We spent many a day or evening on one of our front porches - just chatting.
Then Susan experienced a life changing event which sent her to Des Moines - 2 1/2 hours from me.
I don't see Susan as often as I did when she lived across the street. But yet when I see her or we chat on the phone - it is like no time has passed.
I have not talked to Susan since she stopped by at Christmas when she was home for her family Christmas.
I think I will give her a call tonight - we will pick up right were we left off at Christmas as if it were yesterday that we last chatted. Truly an everlasting friend.

And as we know every Moda blog hop involves prizes.
Leave a comment about one of your everlasting friends to be eligible to win a Snap Pop fat eight bundle.

You have until February 27, 11:00 PM central time to leave a comment.
I will announce the winner on March 1st.

Those shoes are perfect for the red hot machine! If I was gifted with a finished quilt, I would wish for Primitive Garden. I'm working on my own version, but it would sure be nice to just (poof!) have it done.

2013 Designer's Mystery Blog Hop - Week 1

Hello,
Welcome to week one of the 2013 Designer's Mystery Blog Hop hosted by Fat Quarter Shop.

Twelve Moda designers have each designed a block for the
Fat Quarter Shop Designer Mystery Block of the Month.
This BOM features fabric designed by Joanna of Fig Tree and Co.

The name of the line is Avalon.
It is such a pretty, Joanna like line.
Pretty little florals and prints in her signature colors of soft yellows,
greens, aquas, reds and of course buttercream.
This line also features this little navy dot.

It's such an ordinary little print - we have all seen it before.

But you mix it in with all of those soft prints and it makes everything pop.
This BOM is actually a row quilt consisting of 4 rows of three blocks.
A basket, a star, a house and a flower row.
If you have not signed up for this BOM
and wish to do so go here for all of the details.

Three designers will be blogging every Monday the month of February.

Joanna, Edyta and myself are the designers who will be blogging this Monday.
We have all designed basket blocks.

Fat Quarter Shop has asked us to blog about our ultimate dream gift basket.
I asked if there were guide lines - did it have to be quilt related - did it have to fit inside a certain size basket??
I was told  there were no rules or limits for the gift basket.
I decided to dream big - like maybe it is a gift basket from Oprah.
So here goes.

First up is this quilt designed by Lissa Alexander.
Here is the link if you wish to make the quilt.
I however am hoping for an already made quilt -
as in pieced, quilted and bound.
But if that dream does not come through,
I just may have to make it myself .

And if I have to sew it myself, I certainly would
want to do it using this little red hot number.
For one dollar less than a thousand dollars
you can get your little featherweight painted here.
As many of you know, I am a bit of a shoe fanatic

I am really loving the pop of red with the nude.
I could wear them while I sew on my little red sewing machine.
I would totally be color coordinated!
If you like them and they are in you budget, you can purchase them here.
I better hope they are in my basket.

I have always been a fan of Oscar de la Renta.
 He makes such beautiful gowns.
I espially love this one - so plain, so simple, so beautiful.
I probably should dream for the body to go with the dress.
I am sure this model is about 6'4" and a size –0000.
And if you were that size you would not need a gift basket
as the this dress in this size, I am quite sure would fit in a ring box.
Again if you desire this dress and have the budget - you can find it here.
And while we are dreaming …

Who wouldn't want George sitting in the chair beside you?
Sadly I do not have a link to George.
I do however have the link to this guy…

and I am not sharing.

Be sure to go to Joanna's and Edyta's blogs to see what they have in their dream gift baskets.

And don't forget to head on over to Fat Quarter Shop and check out their blog today - They are having a give away!

And speaking of give away - I too am having a give away.

Tell me what finished quilt you would like to see in your gift basket,
and you will have a chance to win this fat eight pack,
a Charm Pack™, or a Jelly Roll™  of Snap Pop.
You have until midnight February 8th to leave you comment.
I will announce the winner on Monday February 11.

See you next Monday for week two featuring three more Moda designers.
From my heart,
Sandy
