Moda Pillow Talk Day 14 And My Day!

Hurry, hurry you have until midnight tonight February 16, to make your guesses and or comments.
Hmmm. Not sure why some of you are having trouble downloading the file.
When I click on the link it opens. Then go to the upper left corner under FILE and you can either download it or print it. It works for me. Sorry I don't know what to tell you. You can always email me and I will email it to you. Thanks. Sandy.
Welcome to day 14 of Moda's Pillow Talk blog hop.

Valentine's Day and My Turn Day.
We finally are having some very nice warm, thawing weather here in Iowa.
It's in the upper 40's here today. Yippee!

This shape was melted out of my driveway today.
Way to go Mother Nature!

To thank all of you for following this hop we are offering a 10% discount on all online orders placed from now through February 21. Type in the code pillow to receive your discount. Discount will not be received on sale items.

Since today is my day the subject of my picture is me.
I have titled today's picture...

It's All About Me.

Funky eyeglasses

A heart.

A paint brush.

Selvage dots.

As many of you know, I have been designing fabric for Moda for a very long time.
I am in my seventeenth year.
I paint out all of my fabric designs - because when I started there were not the computer design programs that are available now. (Yep...that old.)
As you know I collect paint boxes.

This is my littlest paint box.
It measures 3/8" X 5/8".
Isn't it cute?
Since I paint out my fabric and I collect paint boxes,

I decided to make a paint box pillow - a red one - for sure.

Each square of paint represents a piece of fabric from each year
I have designed fabric excluding this year.
(Because 17 squares did not work for a paint box)
Print or download pattern here.

Here's a close-up. Remember to click on pictures to enlarge.

So here is the deal.
Can you guess the name of each line of fabric
represented by each paint square in the paint box?
Leave your guesses in a comment. Just list them left to right.
If anyone guesses all of the fabrics correctly they will win their choice
of my pillow and today's painting or a fat quarter bundle
of my current line Lovely and today's painting.
If more than one person guesses all of the fabrics correctly
I will draw for the winner.

I thought this was a good idea until it dawned on me that some of you
where probably about eight years old when I started - soooo if you
haven’t a clue which line of fabric the squares represent,
leave a comment - any kind of a comment - "Sandy you are old as dirt." will work.
There will be another winner drawn from these comments.
Altogether I have 5 prizes to give away, the above prizes plus a Lovely Charm Pack™, Layer Cake™ and Jelly Roll™.
Comments close Wednesday, February 16 at midnight.

Are you a treasure saver?
As I was gathering up my fabrics I realized that I did not have scraps of many of my favorite pieces from each line.
If it was a favorite, it was cut up, pieced into a project and enjoyed.
I do not wrap my treasures in tissue, place them in a safe place and only take them out every so often to admire.

One of my treasures is this quilt made from my first line of fabric.
It was made by Pam Crockett.
Pam do you by chance follow my blog?

This quilt was displayed in the Moda booth at market.
Since it was made out of my first line of fabric,
Bruce thought I should have it.
I thought he paid too much for it.
He then had it hand quilted. More expense.
By now he had quite a bit of money in this gift of mine.
Some people would have taken this special gift, wrapped it in tissue and placed it in a drawer for very few to see.
Not me. If I treasure something - I use it and show it off - why pack it away in a drawer?
I hung my quilt on our dinning room wall.
Yes it is not nearly as bright as it was when I first hung it as the sun has faded it, but everyday I have enjoyed my gift.
I am about to do some redecorating in the dining room. It's time for a change. I will take the quilt down, fold it up….and lay it on the couch so it can be used for snuggling and keeping me warm.
Eventually the quilt will not only be faded, it will also be torn and tattered but still a treasure.
Better to be torn and tattered from much use and enjoyment than to be in pristine shape without a story.
Now for the questions.

What is a little known fact about yourself?
I can paint with my toes. In fact I painted out all of these mini pictures with my toes.

How do you relax?

Painting - (not a room) and chilln' at our lake cabin.

What do you sleep in - PJ's or Nightgown?
T-shirt and shorts or sweats.

What kind of pillow do you like, Hard or soft, foam or feather? And why?
Two pillows. Both HAVE to be feather. I like the top one to be soft and the bottom one to be medium.
Foam pillows give me a headache.

When you were young did you sleep with a stuffed animal? If so what?
No stuffed animals - no blanket.

Do you sew in bed? Read? Watch TV? eat?
Watch a little TV.

How many nights have you or your spouse spent on the couch?
If falling asleep while watching TV counts - a few.

Nighttime toddy?
No.

Early to bed or all-nighter?
I used to be an all-nighter, not so much any more, but yet I am not an early morning person either. I work at night but not nearly as late as I used to and I get up about an hour earlier than I used to.

Who would you most like to have a pillow fight with?
My sisters - that would mean we were young again.

Okay - if you believe the answer to the first question - I have some prime real estate for sale.
I feel like with a blog the whole wide world knows all about me...I have nothing left to tell!

Be sure to stop back tomorrow to see the painting of the day and link up with Lauren and Jessi Jung.

  1. Well....I'm a very new quilter, but I have used two of your lines...Essence and Tranquility...but I've loved them both! I think that I see both of them in there...

  3. I just started quilting so I don't know the names of your fabrics. But I love your designs.

  5. I would love to paint and create fabrics! That's so cool!

  6. I have enjoyed and purchased your fabric for a long time. Learning about you has been fun. You are no longer just a name on the salvage.

  7. Wow I am the first to comment. Let me start by saying...I have no idea what those fabrics are BUT I do enjoy reading your blog everyday. The paintings have been wonderful even if your toes are involved hehehe. Thank you for sharing a little about yourself. Have a great Valentine's Day!

  8. Thanks for a great blog hop. I am really enjoying this one. And I love your mini-pictures. I think it's so cool you paint your fabric designs. But I have the slightest idea about the names of your fabric lines...if I had to remember fabric lines names, I would be a mess... :)

  9. Since you are monitoring comments (which means mine probably wasn't the first LOL) you can delete this one but I was not able to download or print the pattern for the pillow. It said I didn't have permission. Thank you!

  10. I so agree with using your treasures. I collect porcelian pigs - and yes, I let my grandson play with them. He very nicely puts them on their special shelf for the next play date. I don't know all you lines of fabric as I am new to quilting - but learning (and having fun), and isn't that what its all about.

  11. Greetings from Northern Saskatchewan CANADA! I love your fabric but do not know all the lines as I took many years off of quilting and when I came back they had all these things like "fat quarter packs" etc! I love it!

  12. YIKES, 17 years ago I couldn't afford quality fabric so the kids' clothes were made from hand-me-downs from more fortunate people who were kind enough to know I could use tattered clothes to "remake" clothes. And, I enjoyed every minute of it.

With that being said, I am sad to say I don't know all the lines' names.

BUT - I KNOW GOBBLE GOBBLE !!!! I have a secret stash of GOBBLE GOBBLE, even after having made atleast 8 quilts from it.

Your painting today - "TOE-TALY" wonderful.

  16. No, you're not older than dirt. If so, that makes me a relic. Love your fabric and the picture and pillow you created for the shop hop.

  17. when you started designing fabric, i still had to wait two years to sew my first dress and three and half years to buy fabric all by myself.

  18. Says that I am first commenter - and everyone knows they do not win -ohwell - you are certainly one talented lady and even if I can't identify all the fabric, I am sure I have/had them all as I love your designs. Judy C hoping to win

  19. I've been enjoying all your little paintings...how cute are they!
Sorry I don't know all your lines; I would like to...I have a lot of trouble finding MODA fabrics where I live, so this has been so fun seeing all the designers, their pillows, and their fabric lines!
    Your pillow is great!

  20. While I won't attempt to name your lines of fabric - I know I have used many of them over the years. I totally agree that is is "Better to be torn and tattered from much use and enjoyment than to be in pristine shape without a story"

  21. Pick me! Pick me!!!

I've only been quilting for about 7 years and fell in love with your fabric when I found "Celebrate Spring". Love all your fabric, especially your panels.

    Love your paintings too!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Am I the first!? I don't recall all your fabric lines though I have many of them. Especially one from around 1999 that was a buttery yellow..I have a lot of that! Anyway, if you are older than dirt, I am right there with you!

  23. I am so glad Bruce got the quilt back for you. I remember seeing it in a magazine article a long time ago and have always loved it. And, I love the cute little paintings you have been doing during the Moda Pillow Talk event.

  24. I love reading your blog! The paintbox collection is awesome! The painting is great & I SO wish I could name all of your lines! However, I do love your stuff!

I like your view on treasures! I'm usually the type that puts them away hoping to save them forever. But when it comes to quilts, I want them to be LOVED! Tattered, torn, but known that they were loved!

  25. Sandy, I really enjoyed your post. And while I have read your blog for quite some time, I don't comment very often. But I absolutely LOVE each and every mini painting you've been doing for this blog tour...you have sooo much talent!

Your pillow is absolutely adorable, and so creative. As to your fabric lines, I only began sewing about 6 years ago and wasn't into fabrics until then...so I'm afraid that I don't know all of your lines. However, I can tell you which fabric is my all-time most favorite....Frolic! I *heart* that fabric sooo much. I have made a lot of different things from it, and still have quite a bit in my stash!

Thanks so much for your participation in the hop, and your very generous give aways. Happy Valentine's Day!

    XOXO,

    Cyndi

  31. I can't answer the question on each line of fabric as I haven't been quilting that long but I am as old as dirt (dirt is about 51 years old right!). Anyway, love the wonderful quilt of your first line of fabric! I'm sure it was worth every penny spent! You are a very gifted designer! Have a wonderful Valentines Day!

  32. 17 years ago, I was not 8, but I was also not as avid a quilter as I am now, so I'll just say hello. Thanks for a fun giveaway though. So impressed by your toe-paintings. ;)

  33. Have enjoyed your little paintings throughout the shop hop....I havent been quilting long enough to know your entire line...but love Your style!

  34. Sandy, question for you. When one is as old as dirt, what is the age? thanks for the humor. Have enjoyed your daily hop paintings.

    ReplyDelete
  35. What about a preice for the first comment because a was less than 8 when you started so no guess for me!

  39. Sandy, Thanks for including us "newbies" in your drawings. Although I am old enough to be familiar with your fabrics for 17 years, I have not been a serious quilter for very long. I love this blog hop as it gives me a chance to learn about "new" lines of fabrics.

  40. I'm afraid I don't always pay attention to the names of fabric lines, so I can't list even one name! But I love your pillow - what a great idea! I almost believed the answer to your first question - made me feel really inept since I can't paint even half that well with my hands! I'm glad to hear that you weren't serious.... :)

  42. I probably am old enough to know all those fabrics but, truth be told, I haven't been quilting a year. I do know that you should win a prize yourself for most unusual thing we didn't know! Amazing: I can't even paint my toenails properly! Are you exceptionally bendy or do you use a telescope? x

  43. I haven't been sewing long enough (I am old enough though) to know about all the fabric lines so it's just a comment for me! Love the paintbox pillow, and I totally agree with using everything I do the same myself. Have a great Valentines Day!

  45. This is your first question I think. "So here is the deal.
Can you guess the name of each line of fabric
represented by each paint square in the paint box?"
    My answer is No.
The 16 answers to the names on the fabric in the pillow left to right and top to bottom are: No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No. I kNOw that I have the right answer for me. Hope you are amused and not offended because do like your work - and it is a trait that I cannot remember the names of things. Happy Valentine's Day - you are the heart in today's painting.

  46. Oh my-I've never been first. I'm not sure that's good. No 1 never gets picked! :-( But anyway-I really loved your paint box pillow. What a neat idea and beautiful color choices of the little paintbox chips.

  47. Sandy, I am sorry I cannot name all those fabric lines even though I am older than dirt. I too use my treasures family quilts, crystal, china, linens and silver from friends and family. Better to have it break while being used than while being stored.
    Happy Valentines day!

  49. You are hardly as "old as dirt", that was my grandmother - the mad crocheter who passed away last spring at 94 and loved pretty fabrics up to the end. I don't know all of your fabric lines, although I have used many in quilts. But I have very much enjoyed using several of your patterns.

  61. First, can I say, awesome heart from Mother Nature!

I have been sewing and into fabric for 2 years...so a bit of a disadvantage here...but I totally love your lines. Giddy is my current favourite!! I'll have a bit of a stab at guessing... I think there's a boo! in there, which would be Gobble Gobble, and I'm pretty sure I can see Essence (my sister loves that line) and a little bit of L'amour?

And your tiniest paintbox is the best. I so want to squeeze its tiny cheeks! (?)
Thanks for the opportunity to win!

I usually watch to see what your next line will be and often buy it. I have L'amour, Lollipop, Awesome, Gobble, Gobble, Frolic, Candy Kisses, & Crazy 8. My birthday is tomorrow and I'm hoping for some Giddy. :) And I think Lovely is just lovely!

Love all your fabrics and patterns!!

I have a collection of quite a few of your fabric lines. There are a few there I don't recognize but I have only been back to quilting for about 2 yrs. I adore your Valentine lines and I have been working on a few things with bits of each of the last two years.

I love your story of your quilt. I have a group of online friends who quilted a quilt for me on my daughter who dieds 1st birthday.
I immediately thought I should put it away and only bring it out every now and then BUT reading your story I know that that isn't what I want to do.

This quilt sew with such love for me has a very important story and it should be used and loved and told.
Thank you for inspiring me to "use" my quilt.

So out they come to be enjoyed by ALL!

  92. What a delightful, wonderful blog you have! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sadly you are older than dirt, but then so am I. It looks like you have spent a fantastic 18 years painting and being creative - how wonderful! I just retired last year and took a watercolor class from our community college in the fall and just fell in love with it. Kinda like being in a sanitarium after a very stressful, long work life LOL!!! It was the most fun! I've been quilting a little over a year and will be sure to look for your fabrics at the local quilt shop - they are simply, simply beautiful. Best regards and thanks for the giveaway.

  97. Oh dear...I'm new to quilting, so have missed out on some of your earlier fabrics. However, after a little research, I see L'Amour, Gobble, Gobble, Frolic, Awesome. , but I can't find the rest! Thank you so much for sharing with us. I look forward to many years of quilting and enjoying your fabric collections!

  98. I love your fabrics and have pieces of many of your lines. Unfortunately, I'M as old as dirt and have the memory (or lack thereof) to prove it, so, sadly, I don't remember the names of the lines. The pillow is great-what a wonderful idea. I also love your little paintings...and you really can't paint with your toes? too bad!

    ReplyDelete
  99. I am a beginning quilter, just starting to collect fabrics. I'll be on the lookout for some of your fabrics. I'm fascinated to read about how you paint the designs. My daughter teaches art to young students and she would love that pillow.

  100. I don't know all the lines, :( But I do LOVE Frolic, and made many clothes for my then 4yr old, which she has worn and worn again, till they're tattered and she's 5 and complaining they're abit to small and time for some new ones.. I didn't want to stick them in her closet and label them "special" clothes only to be worn on special days! I love seeing and using things that mean something!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Love your little painting. I'm not one to put things away either. If i'm putting all that work into it i want it out where it can be seen and used! I loved the little owl pin cushion you did on moda bake shop. I had seen it made up at a quilt shop and after ordering it found out you lived about 20 mins from where i use to live, WOW. Now i'm in north central iowa. I got hooked on your fabric when i saw Zippity Doo Dah. I get some of your new line everytime there released, just love them.

  103. Well Sandy, I do not remember all the lines of fabric you have done over the years by name, but I know I do have scraps in the cupboard from many of them. I am very much enjoying your tiny paintings along the way in this pillow party and love how you symbolized your Moda life in one pillow! And yes...we are loving the 40 degree temps here in Mason City too! Isn't the top of Iowa grand!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Thanks for sharing your story. Sadly, I only recognize a few of your more recent fabrics but I love your pillow anyway and your little painting. Thanks for a chance to win your giveaway.

  105. I would love to have all the answers for the pillow, but it is not happening.=) I love your fabrics and have used several of them in various projects. Thanks for the opportunity to win! Love visiting every day to see the painting you have done for each of the other designers.

  106. I'm new to this quilting lark, but loving it. Moda's pillow talk is helping me find some fantastic blogs. Now got loads of ideas, just need loads of time...

    ReplyDelete
  107. I'm a fairly new quilter (less than 4 years) so I haven't been around your fabrics that long. Thank you for what you do though, I love your fabrics, they are fun.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Sandy, I am as old as dirt, but even I cannot remember 17 lines of fabric, especially considering the fact there was no internet then & pickings are slim in Hawaii. And by the way, Camille really wants your painting of the polka dot chair!

    ReplyDelete
  109. I like your theory on quilts. The only ones I keep in a cupboard folded are my antique ones. If they survived the past 90 years so well, I'm not going to be their undoing, but at least I can see them and enjoy them. I have no idea about your pillow. Too many lines to remember, but I think my oldest project out of your fabric is a scrappy log cabin out of brushed Pheasant Run fabrics. That's been awhile!

    ReplyDelete
  110. I love the paintings and pillow, I can't name the fabrics but I love them.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Loved your post-- and we have a lot in common! I too love the color red; despise litter bugs; LOVE chocolate; didn't grow up on a farm-- but may as well have-- we had rabbits, cows, chickens, ducks, goats, cats, dogs, and always had fresh veggies from Dad's garden; and am the middle of 3 girls-- my best friends in the world, as well as my own 3 girls. :-) And I so agree with your thoughts on actually USING things that you love instead of packing them away in a drawer for safe keeping!
Ohhh!!! I HOPE I win one of your prizes!! I would be SO thrilled! I'm gonna try to list the fabrics in your pillow later today.. and by the way, I LOVE you pillow! I think it's my favorite so far and I definitely am going to use that pattern, but I want to make placemats instead of a pillow. I think it would be a fun and easy way to display some of my favorite fabrics.

    ReplyDelete
  112. First time I have been to your blog..I may have used your fabric, now I will for sure....are you really as old as dirt?

    ReplyDelete
  113. The only line of yours I've used is Lollipop, but it's not in the pillow! Love your fabric!

  114. Hi, Sandi! I'm sorry, but I don't know the names of your older fabric lines. (Yikes, should I admit that I was a fan of another designer way back in the day when you first started out?) I agree wholeheartedly with you about using the things we treasure most! Your heart from "mother nature" is quite the gift! I was given a gift like that in my garden a couple of years ago. My thyme plant grew into a heart shape. I took a photo of it too! I would love to win any of your little paintings, or, your pillow. Thanks for the giveaway! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  115. I have so many pieces from your fabric lines, can't count them all! I used to save my treasures, but then realized it's so much better to enjoy them every day. Can't name all your lines, but I love each one....thanks for the great giveaways!

    ReplyDelete
  116. Your pillow is great thanks for sharing. I too am from Iowa but no longer live there - don't miss the cold, however, we end up spending to occassional summer vacation back there at my parent's lake house. I much perfer the Seattle weather, winters aren't so extreme and summers aren't so hot... I do have very fond memories of growing up in the midwest and wouldn't trade them for anything.

Loved you post today, thanks for sharing.

  117. Just discovering all these wonderful blogs. Blackbird Designs sent me!

    ReplyDelete
  118. I can name some of your lines - but not all of them. I've only been seriously quilting the last 10 years. But I can say that your lines are always far and away my favorite - especially your fall designs!

    ReplyDelete
  119. I love the paint box idea. I am too young to guess any of your fabric lines and I only started sewing less than 6 months ago. Just seeing the fabric swatches used in your pillow made me excited and sparked some ideas for projects. I would feel honored to receive any fabric from a talented veteran! Thanks for the chance to win! happy V day

    ReplyDelete
  120. I've used your Essence fabric to make a queen sized quilt for my bed. I've been following your fabric line for about 10 years and haven't been unhappy. Thanks for sharing your creativity.

    ReplyDelete
  121. you have such a gift. have enjoyed your daily paintings and think you are beautiful. think that is a good lesson about enjoying treasures.

    ReplyDelete
  122. I cannot name all of the lines, only been quilting 6-7 years. I can say that I have loved many of them. It will be interesting to hear the names of the older lines I am not familiar with. Love the story of the quilt from your first line. Very sentimental for Valentine's Day!

    ReplyDelete
  123. I haven't quilted very long so I don't know the names of all of your fabrics, but I am older than you and not older than dirt which means you aren't either. I really like the little pillow.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I recognized Frolic, but the rest I am stumped. Love Frolic and your fabrics. Thanks for the great fabric and the very generous giveaway. Your small paintings are so fun. Thanks again and I hope you are around for at least another 17 years and more.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Great pillow and love your mini paintings! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  126. Can't name all the lines but I like the watermelon red from the Fresh Squeezed collection. Happy Valentine's Day! Keep painting; everyoneloves the toe-painted paintings.

    ReplyDelete
  127. I am not sure I willing to put down that you are as old as dirt BUT I don't even know how to guess these fabric names so....

    ReplyDelete
  128. i really did believe your first answer. anyway i cant name any of the fabrics, if youve been designing for 7 years then i was 11 at the time, so i have no hope. love your painting they're adorable

    ReplyDelete
  129. I love the story behind the pillow you created for this blog hop!

    ReplyDelete
  130. I love that you use your "treasures"! Great idea for the pillow too, but I could never begin to name all of the lines of fabric--I'm lucky to remember the names of my kids (and there are only 2 of them).

  132. oops, posted this on the wrong day!

Lovely story about your treasures. I don't know the names of all your fabric lines, but I do love your fabrics and designs, and Moda in general. And I remember the quilt in this blog. It was featured in an AP&Q magazine, and underneath is this great antique cabinet. I've saved that magazine so I can have my husband re-create the cabinet for me (still waiting, I might get it sooner if I learn woodworking and make it myself! ;-)

Thanks for the pillow pattern and wonderful giveaways. And congrats on 17 years with Moda.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Hey, no fair copying mine!!! Just kidding. Good luck to all!

    ReplyDelete
  134. I totally believed your first answer and it was entirely logical that you are so awesome and talented that you painted the mini paintings with your toes. It didn't even surprise me. I laughed out loud, though, when you told the truth. Love, love all your fabric lines but I can't remember their names. Your pillow is beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I totally agree with you about treasures. I collect vintage printed tablecloths from the 50's and I use them all the time on my table. Yes, they get more stained, but the colors and designs bring me so much pleasure.
    Love your mini paintbox!!
I don't know you, but from reading your post, your pillow seems like such a perfect expression of you!

    ReplyDelete
  136. I'm a little too young to know all your lines. I love the painting you have created for each day.

    ReplyDelete
  137. No way could I name all the fabrics - not b/c you're old, b/c my memory isn't that good - LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  138. Ok, you got me. I am not able to name all the lines but I definitely recognize many of them. I have used so many of them in quilts and projects that I have done over the years. I love your fabric design style and will continue to use them. Thank You.

I know the first swatch on the pillow is Tranquility, and I've made a quilt from that line and given it away. I liked it so well that I bought another layer cake and will make myself one!

  150. I've been quilting for years but never remember the name of fabric lines. I'd still like to win your fabrics, though! I like to paint, too, and am getting my granddaughter interested in both paints and fabrics.

    ReplyDelete
  151. i seriously doubt you're as old as dirt, but i was 8 seventeen years ago! for real! great guess! :D

    ReplyDelete
  152. I would never say you're older than dirt, because I think we're about the same age. I've been a follower of your blog for quite some time -- love your patterns and fabric. I've made several quilts using both. I didn't believe the painting with feet thing for a minute. Each of those little paintings are adorable -- I especially love the telephone and the story about your mom. Makes me realize again how important our friendships are and to make the most of them!

    ReplyDelete
  153. Sandy, I am the one who is old as dirt. Unfortunately I discovered quilting late in life so I had no idea your fabric lines have been around as long as they have (I thought I discovered you when I bought your Tranquility line - haha).

    ReplyDelete
  154. I can't name them, but I have used most of them. I love your style. The yellow one is part of the quilt that is an exception to your rule. It is wrapped and put away. It was made for a grandchild that never came to be. I can't finish it and I can't bear to part with it. Maybe someday I can decide what to do with it, but not today and probably not tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Sandy, I haven't been quilting long enough to remember all of your fabric lines, but I have surely enjoyed your creations over the last 5 years. Thanks for all you do!!

    ReplyDelete
  156. Oh Sandy ~ ONLY with permission would I EVER say to someone, "Sandy, you're as old as dirt" !!! LOL There. I said it. Feel bad but, I consider myself that old also. I couldn't begin to name those fabrics since I was not sewing or quilting 17 yrs ago. I was busy being (for all practical purposes a single Mom chasing three young boys around as my then husband was useless)
I do love the pillow and how neat to have chosen to do the pillow that way.

I will also check back as the pillow is telling me that I don't have permission to download, or even see the file. Thank you in advance as I'm sure you will correct that at some point today.

  158. LOL Well, some folks can paint with their toes, so I actually fell for this! Probably because my wonderful friend just gave me a beautiful afghan that she crocheted - with her one arm and her toes! She must use her toes to control the tension. Anyway, love your pillow, your fabrics and I think your husband is wonderful to buy you that quilt and have it quilted! What a keeper! Keep right on enjoying your quilts; no tissue paper for this girl, either!

    ReplyDelete
  159. I was absolutely NOT 8 when you started designing for Moda, but I still don't have any idea. But I still think your designs are terrific and I'm loving the Pillow Party

  160. I don't know the name of your fabric lines, but I do know that I love them. Also I love your little paintings and am glad to hear that you don't use your toes to paint them!

    ReplyDelete
  161. Thanks for sharing.. that is a really cute idea for a pillow, and I do recognize some of the fabrics but I can't name them... and I thought I was so good at that! What I do remember and have a special love for is your line of flannel fabrics- they were pastel... do you remember those? They were so sweet!

    ReplyDelete
  162. I do not know the fabrics' names. I read on this post, a comment about having a Gobble Gobble stash--well, I do too! It's one of my favs!

    ReplyDelete
  163. Your blog is delightful. I have used your patterns and fabrics but can't for the life of me name them all. Wish I had kept up with chronicling all the fabrics I have used in the short time I have been quilting. Thanks for the chance to win. Would sure like to see the post from someone who actually could name all of your wonderful fabric lines. I too could not get the pattern to download on Google Docs.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Couldn't even tell you the names of all your fantastic fabric lines, but I can pick them out of a "line up"! Love your style and probably have every stripe youv'e ever designed in my stash...make great bindings w/them. I am especially fond of your fall colored lines.

    ReplyDelete
  165. I don't know what all the fabrics are either. I do have you bookmarked in my favorites so I visit often.

I buy your valentines line every year but this one as the local shops don't carry Moda as much as when I lived in UT. So, I would love the chance to win!!! LOVE your lines!!!

  182. LOVE your paintbox pillow! I WISH I knew the names of those fabrics but I'm rather new to this quilting thing so forgive me! I have rather recently also come to the same attitude about "treasures". Use it or lose it. More importantly, ENJOY it! And I remind myself, "What am I saving it for?!!"

  184. I do have some of your fabrics, but not sure which lines they are. I always like your panels & try to buy them whenever I can. Your new Giddy line will be a favorite Valentine fabric for along time. Your idea for your pillow is so clever

    ReplyDelete
  185. My answer is "no". Nope, I cannot name all those fabric lines even if I am as old as dirt too :-) I do agree with you that things love are things used. I like to see my treasures too.

    ReplyDelete
  186. Oh such wonderfulness! Yes, I'm approaching the old as dirt age, and I have quilts that have #2 and #5 on the top row (I think that #5 has elephants or other animals. Also quilts containing #2 and #6 on the bottom row. My favorite is the 5 pointed star with the wheel spokes inside - I think that I have several pieces in different colors! Thanks for the chance on the giveaway.

  187. I'm loving your mini paintings! I always stop by your blog first for the introduction, then connect to the designer of the day from your page. It's the perfect way to start my day! I've only discovered Moda this year, so I have no guesses on your fabric lines, but know that you are one of my favorite fabric designers! I always know when I buy your fabric I'm getting something special! I too am a treasure user. I will use it until it's worn out! Thanks for the beautiful work!
