The chocolate chip cookie was accidentally developed by Ruth Graves Wakefield in 1930.
She owned the Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts,
a popular restaurant that featured Ruth's home cooking.
One day, while preparing a batch of Butter Drop Do cookies,
Ruth cut a bar of Nestlé Semi-Sweet Chocolate into tiny bits
and added them to her dough, expecting them to melt.
Instead, the chocolate held its shape and softened
to a delicately creamy texture.
And that is how the first Nestlé Toll House
Real Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels came to be.
And now you know the rest of the story. (Now there is another quote - Do you know who said this?)
Stop back tomorrow to read the quote of the day and link up with Camille Roskelley of Thimble Blossoms.
Suddenly I am craving chocolate chip cookies.
From my heart,
Sandy

ReplyDeleteMMMMmmmmm Good! The recipe on the back of the Nestle chocolate chip bag is my husband's very favorite cookie, but only if it's made by me! My mixer can handle 3 batches at once, so I don't have to make them too often. We divide them into 4 freezer bags and take out just one bag at a time. A few seconds in the microwave and they taste like they came fresh out of the oven!
