Hello and welcome to Fat Quarter's 2015 Designer Mystery BOM blog hop.
I love everything about the city. I love that you can walk into a retail store and not only find cool things to buy but see other cool things that might be part of a display or just part of the building.
Like a very interesting floor made out of pennies.
Or an interesting tile display in a store - the tile are not for sale. We were told that they have been hanging there as long as the shop owner could remember.
Or a sign made out of mannequin arms and legs.
Or a sign made out of mannequin arms and legs.
You can be walking along and a flea market breaks out right in the middle of the street.
You can find all kinds of cool things at Hell's Kitchen Flea Market
One of these years while the DH is on one of his fishing or golf trips I want to rent someone's apartment in the garment district for about 10 days and do nothing but shop garment fabric by day and sew garments by night.
How fun would that be...my dream vacation for sure. Anybody out there in the NYC garment district who is game to rent me their apartment for a week or two?
We also were sent a link to a test to determine which 2015 Designer Mystery Quilt Block We Were? The test determined that I am a Row House Quilt block: You are the “Row House” quilt block. DIY is your domain; you appreciate giving new life to vintage things. (Pretty right on I would say)

Happy Quilting.
From my heart,

Don't you wonder where that art teacher is today? Growing up we were told girls could do ANYTHING; yet got the negative vibes from the teachers. Similar to the kids being told you can't make a living playing video games, and they now design games for the next generation. Lucky you reached out and followed your instinct!!
ReplyDeleteSandy, not surprisingly, I got "Quilt Shop Block" in the quiz. My favorite place to visit is anywhere I've not been before!

ReplyDeleteI love NYC too!! I have kidded (well just kind of kidding) that if my hubby dies first I am going to live in NYC for a year. I say it so often though that my hubby has now suggested that WE go live in NYC for a month!!! When we decide on THE month I am going to go thru AirBnB or something like that and get 4 different places for a week each! Now I need to put Garment District on the list. ;) I LOVE your new fabric line! ohhhh, fall in NYC...
ReplyDeleteI can`t wait to see this new fabric line! I have enjoyed sewing with many of your past lines! Love your style! Personally, I`d place Paris way ahead of NYC, though.
ReplyDeleteI took the quiz and got "Grandma's Cottage" which was perfect because at this stage in my life, being a Grandma is my favorite part! I just returned from a cruise in the Caribbean, which I love, but honestly there are so many beautiful places in the world, it would be hard for me to choose. I enjoyed reading your biography and could relate with much of it! I have sold and taught classes for Stampin' Up! for over 11 years, so I understand your enjoyment of creating with both paper and fabric. I am a fellow "Iowan" and I look forward to reading more of your blog. I would LOVE to see and play with your new fabric line!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to visit is the beach, any beach. I love them all. Thanks for the chance to win
ReplyDeleteThe quiz said I had the Grandma’s Cottage Quilt Block.

ReplyDeleteCan't wait to head back to the Portland, Or. area. We visited a couple of fabric stores last year, Bolt and Diamond Fabric in Canon Beach. Would love to visit NYC someday, but would have to bring along an empty suitcase for all of the goodies I would buy. Love the new fall fabric, so fun and love the purple!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite place is the UP of Michigan along Lake Superior! London is on my bucket list.
ReplyDeleteI have never been to NYC, but really want to go there some day. My favorite place that I have visited is Paris. The artwork in so many of the buildings is just amazing to me. How they could possible make such beautiful carvings so many years ago, with just hand tools, just boggles my mind! And the Eiffel Tower was my favorite spot. Loved it all!
ReplyDeleteI took the quiz and I am the Townhouse! I have been on the fence about doing this mystery because I have a few BOM's that are UFO's, but I can't stand it. Going to have to have it!
